The Lao- German Bilateral Technical Cooperation Programme for Integrated Rural Development in Mountainous Areas of Lao PDR (RDMA) is currently seeking for one Lao national to fill the position of

Agro-Economist Advisor
To be posted in Sayaboury Province.

Qualifications:

• Good skills and knowledge on economic analysis of upland based livelihood systems (crop, livestock and others) and on market analysis.
• Good computer skills (Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, basic database and internet email communication)
• Good spoken and written English
• Ability to work independently with high confident without major supervision

• Ability to work in hard, demanding conditions with frequent traveling to remote villages with local communities.

Main Tasks:

• Develop Value Chains for agricultural commodities , facilitate these value chains at different levels
• Interface between agricultural sector and SME and support the private sector development
• Support the establishment of a market information system (MIS).
• Closely follow up the cross boarder trading, concession and contract agriculture and foreign investment
• Coordinate with the provincial and district authorities regarding the implementation of the designed activities in the target villages, especially the District Agriculture and Forestry Office (DAFO) and the District Industrial and Commerce Office (DICO)
• Advise the PAFO and support the establishment of a market information system (MIS). Assist DICO in developing the strategy on agriculture development towards value chains for the province within the context of the provincial economic policy and guidelines on agriculture

• Assist/advise DAFO and DICO in monitoring, follow-up and evaluation of the planned activities according to the standard process and procedure developed by M&E section

Experience:

• At least 5 years of experience in a similar position working with government/international organizations in the fields of economics and agriculture

Level of education:

• At least B.Sc. degree in a relevant fields (economics) with crop production and livestock is an advantage

• Women and residents of Sayaboury Province are encouraged to apply
